I hit the slopes for the first time this year thanks to a fun partnership with Lindt chocolate, where we had the chance to try skiing or snowmobiling. Now, let me be clear; I skipped the skiing and went straight for the snowmobiles. In hindsight, that might not have been my best decision (cut to me dramatically crashing into a snowbank, with the snowmobile flipping on top of me and leaving me with a lovely ankle injury - classic!).
Anyway, we were asked to get some ski gear and I immediately spiraled into a blind panic. Up until that moment, the thought of buying or even browsing for ski gear had never crossed my mind. Where does one even start? Determined to figure it out, I spent the next two weeks trying on as many ski-related items as possible from every brand I could find. It was… an experience. But eventually, I managed to track down and curate a list of places that actually cater to mid and plus-size bodies; and I thought I’d share them with you!

Ski Helmets for Bigger Heads
I rarely wear hats. Why? Because I have a HUGE head; something I accepted a long time ago. So when it came to helmets, I was skeptical. I popped into a few sports stores in February and tried on every helmet known to man, before a friend of mine recommended a ski helmet on Amazon, which I bought and tried on, only to find that it fit perfectly. I was gagged, I tell ya.
There is also the Giro Neo MIPS Unisex Snowboarding helmet (again, get the XL)
Ski Suits

Hi Steph, thanks so much for this list (as well as the one on hiking gear)!! Skiing will never be my thing, unfortunately - I tried, it didn't go well - but I do have Iceland and/or Lapland in winter on my bucket list, so I will be looking for cold weather gear as and when. Did you happen to also come across any good plus size base layers during your research? I'm told by outdoorsy friends that a merino wool base is a must, but I've never been able to find anything above a size 18/20...
